Our Industry Liaison Officer works with industries and educational institutions to provide opportunities to Senior Secondary students to gain work experience, school-based traineeships and apprenticeships.

Year 11 & Year 12 students and their parents are also invited to join a 4-day exclusive campus tour across Australia’s top universities, where university faculty members and students will personally host the tour.

YEAR 10 TRADE TASTER PROGRAM 2025
TAFE Queensland SkillsTech

Applications opening Wednesday 12th March at 9am

The Year 10 Trade Taster Program allows eligible high school students to try out a trade without needing to commit to a full qualification or apprenticeship. Students get to see if a trade is the right option for them or test out a potential career path. 

Please note: 

This program is subsidised by the Queensland Government and is offered at no cost. 

What sort of trades are on offer?

Each of our training centres offer different trades.  Each group will be a set mix of three trades.  Students will not be able to pick and choose their trades but will undertake all trades that are in their assigned group.

Automotive – Heavy Vehicle
Carpentry
Electrical
Engineering
Furniture Making
Plumbing
Recreational Vehicles (RV’s, Caravans, Campers)
Finishing Trades (may include Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Bricklaying or Plastering)
