FRENCH BILINGUAL PROGRAM
It is hard to believe that our first term is coming to an end. It has been a busy term interrupted by cyclone Alfred. It was lovely to see everyone back on site following a few days at home and to start back with our learning.
This term we completed the French National Assessments in Years 1 to 3. The students really enjoyed completing the activities in their booklets. We will be able to share your child/ren’s results with you during parent-teacher interviews. These results help identify specific learning areas that we need to focus on and to tailor our teaching sequences accordingly.
AEFE French Professional Development at Tingalpa State School
In week 5, we hosted French Professional Development sessions on writing, reading comprehension and reading fluency at Tingalpa. These sessions were facilitated by AEFE accredited training staff and were delivered through different modules over two days. The format was designed so teachers could join in different sessions with the aim to share what they have learnt with other teachers during staff meetings. It was great to be able to have Mrs Lamy join the team of teachers at Tingalpa.

French Bilingual Program Voluntary Contribution
We have received our first resource order purchased through the voluntary contributions. Thank you for your support of the French Bilingual Program in both Secondary and Primary through the VC. Our first order was to purchase sets of French books for literature novel studies for our Year 7 and 8.
We are compiling a resource order for our primary classrooms which will be ready for our teachers and students early in Term 2.
Through the Student Resource Scheme for Prep FBP we have purchased French cursive and fine motor skills books. These books are now used in our Prep classes at both Whites Hill State College and Tingalpa State School.

From the classrooms
This term, our Prep class explored rhymes and nursery rhymes.
Rhyming words: “dans mon lit il y a ...”

Working fine motor skills with the nursery rhyme: “Sur le Pont d’Avignon”

French book donations
Thank you for the donations of French books for the library. We have received plenty of books and are now busy cataloguing them. At this stage we will not take any more donations until we have been able to process what we currently have. We will be putting another call out when we are ready to receive more books. Thank you!
