Term 2 Wrap-Up

As we approach the end of Term 2, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on what has been a rich and productive term of learning, growth and connection across our whole school community.

From our beautiful Under 8’s Day celebrations, NAPLAN in the early weeks, engaging incursions and excursions, vibrant classroom learning, to the Twilight Expo, which proudly showcased the breadth and depth of learning from Prep to Year 12, and our exciting Synapses Ignite showcase — Term 2 has reminded us of the energy, commitment and community spirit that makes Whites Hill State College such a special place to learn and grow.

We’ve seen students demonstrate their capabilities in sporting events like Cross Country and Touch Football, take part in meaningful awareness initiatives such as Small Steps 4 Hannah, and continue to engage with the important social and emotional learning focus through the TRP (The Resilience Project). Our focus across the term has included gratitude, emotional literacy and empathy, with students continuing to build their resilience and understanding of self and others.

Our CARES values remain central to everything we do — whether it’s students showing empathy, supporting others, achieving their personal best, or taking responsibility for their learning. We thank all families and carers for supporting these values at home and working in partnership with us to ensure consistency and support for all learners.

College Calendar

We encourage families to visit our College Events Calendar, available on our school website. This calendar is linked directly to each newsletter and can also be found under the “Contact the School” and “Newsletter Archive” tabs.

We understand the busy schedules of families, and we’re working to make planning and engagement easier. By keeping the college calendar accessible online, we hope to provide a central reference point for upcoming activities. While the calendar is updated regularly, and some event details may change, we strive to keep it as accurate and up-to-date as possible to support your forward planning.

Second-Hand Uniform Donations Welcome
Have your children outgrown their uniforms? We are always grateful for donations of good quality second-hand uniforms to support our school community. If you have items that are clean, in good condition, and no longer needed, please consider donating them to our Uniform Shop. Donations can be dropped off directly at the shop during opening hours. Your support helps other families and contributes to a more sustainable school environment.

Finance and Outstanding Payment Reminders
As part of updated Department of Education policies, families are advised that any outstanding invoices will now be issued monthly, in addition to the regular statements already being sent. Please note that these invoices will be issued per individual student, not per family. If you are not currently on a payment plan and have any overdue amounts, we encourage you to contact the school office to arrange a suitable plan. We appreciate your cooperation and support in meeting financial obligations, which assist us in continuing to provide high-quality resources and opportunities for all students.

Looking Ahead – Term 3: School Review
We’d like to inform our community that in Week 1 of Term 3, Whites Hill State College will participate in a School Review led by the Department of Education’s Education Improvement Branch (EIB).

These reviews are not designed to compare or rank schools but instead provide independent, constructive feedback that supports schools to continue to improve student outcomes. All Queensland state schools participate in a review at least once every four years.

During the review, the review team will spend time at our college reviewing data, documents, and other information to gain a deep understanding of our context, performance and strategic direction. They will also meet with a range of people including students, staff, parents, and community members, and we thank in advance those who may be invited to participate.

A final report will be made publicly available on our school website following the review process.

We are proud of the progress we’ve made under our shared vision of Moving Forward Together, and welcome the opportunity for external feedback as we continue to pursue our school priorities:

  • Educational Achievement
  • Wellbeing and Engagement
  • Culture and Inclusion

Thank you again for your continued support throughout Term 2. We wish all our families a safe and restful holiday break, and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3 on Monday 14 July.
