It’s been a wonderfully busy and exciting time in Year 3, full of learning, creativity, and active participation!

On May 21, we joined millions of students around the country for National Simultaneous Storytime, reading The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell. Students loved following the journey of a curious cat who finds adventure on the road — it sparked laughter, questions, and some very creative storytelling of our own!

Science came to life with a Big Bang Science incursion focused on the topic of heat. Students explored how heat moves, what materials conduct heat best, and how heat changes the state of different materials. There were hands-on experiments, exciting demonstrations, and plenty of wide-eyed wonder.

In Design Technology, students were given a special engineering challenge: design an egg mover capable of carefully transporting the fragile egg of a curlew without breaking it. While real curlew eggs were in short supply, we put our designs to the test using marbles — and the results were impressive! Students demonstrated creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork as they refined their prototypes and evaluated their effectiveness.

Our Year 3 students showed fantastic energy and team spirit during the Sports Carnival! They took part in sprints, relays, novelty events, and ball games. It was a morning filled with cheering, trying our best, and supporting our friends — a wonderful showcase of sportsmanship and fun.

 Do You Have an Analogue Clock at Home? We are beginning our new Maths unit on telling time to the minute using analogue clocks. It would be helpful for students to practice at home by reading clocks, timing activities, and noticing how time is measured throughout the day. If you have an analogue clock at home, please encourage your child to use it — every minute counts!
